Artist Statement

My art has become the outlet for my lifelong love and concern for animals and the natural world. Conveniently, painting is another way for me to revel in nature’s beauty and grace indoors. Materiality, particularly the textures paint pigments and wax produce, fascinates me. Ideally my work sparks curiosity and conversations. The imagery comes from imagination, memorable close encounters, and the generous contributors to the photographic public domain.

A portion of your support of my art will be shared with the conservation organizations whose work carry great meaning for me. Currently (2024) I am contributing to Maine Audubon, American Bird Conservancy, and Friends of Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge.

Biography

Leecia Price is primarily a self educated artist and has been painting full-time since 2005, she holds a B.S. in Ecology.  She worked first in information technology, then conservation where, as a naturalist, graphic design projects lead her towards illustration and painting.  Subsequently, her concern for and curiosity of the natural world are expressed largely through her artwork.  Her lifelong affinity for nature, water, and the sea, are the reoccurring themes of her work.

She continues her art training with accomplished artists and her work is held in private collections across the country.  Originally from the southeast, midcoast Maine has been her year-around home since 2013. She lives in Camden with her husband, dog, and cat.
